Located in the Bay the Wales Millennium Centre, another new 21st century landmark, is a purpose built arts centre, with a 1,900-seat auditorium and restaurants. It is the home for the Welsh National Opera.
Situated in the heart of Cardiff Bay the Senedd was opened in 2005. It is the Home of the National Assembly for Wales. The Senedd Building covers an area of 5,000m2 with slate, concrete, steel, glass and timber forming the main materials of the new building.
The Oriel on the second floor is surrounded by a glass and steel façade. It is the largest space in the Senedd building. The large glass façade is designed to reflect an open and transparent government and ultimately create a stronger relationship between the public and the politicians.
Originally built in 1868 for the Norwegian sailors visiting Cardiff. It now houses a coffee shop and art gallery and overlooks the impressive water front development. The Church is also the place where the childrens' author Roald Dahl, famous for writing "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", was christened in 1916.

One hundred years ago the docklands were the hub of the world's coal industry, transporting millions of tonnes of coal across the globe. The famous Tiger Bay docklands have been substantially transformed into Cardiff Bay, a modern development of homes, shops, offices, visitor attractions and the National Assembly for Wales.
